Ready for Tomorrow: digital and creative insights

The exciting thing about recruiting in the digital sector is that the market is extremely fluid and rapidly changing. This creates a range of new roles every month and a client and candidate pool that is increasingly disparate in terms of expectations.

The Rise of the Multi-Skilled Candidate

There will be an increased demand for the multi-skilled candidate. This is particularly true within digital where an understanding of full stack development is increasingly required along with full Adobe CC experience to cover design, wire framing and implementation.

The New ‘SEO Officer’

Marketing will become ever-more siloed with in-house teams preferring to hire dedicated SEO / PPC professionals instead of outsourcing the work to agencies. Many businesses that once had one person owning SEO, now split the team into technical (canonicals, robot files, metadata etc.), content and outreach experts.

From Temp to Perm

The contracting market will appear less and less favourable with increased macro pressures and volatility driven by IR35 and Brexit leading high skilled candidates to switch to the security of permanent jobs. Demand is still strong, however, in niche areas such as print and creative for short term freelancers.

Our services are available collectively, individually, or as bespoke packages to suit different needs and budgets. They are split into three simple stages to match the steps candidates and clients follow; ‘Search’, ‘Selection’ and ‘Support’.

Client case study

The Client

An integrated advertising agency with offices in the US, Zurich, Shanghai and Verbier. Servicing global retail sports brands.

The Challenge

This Denver USA based advertising agency was looking to open an office in Verbier Switzerland to service their performance sports and active lifestyle clients. Looking to appoint a Creative Director to lead their new creative team. The individual needed to have an art direction background, be experienced in both traditional and digital mediums, and have solid experience leading and mentoring a creative team.

Aside from having experience of working on active lifestyle, outdoor and performance brands (skiing, cycling, running, hiking, climbing, etc.), they also needed to be an avid and accomplished skier as many photo shoots will take place in/on the mountains (heliskiing, out of bounds, etc.)!.. No mean task?!.. With offices in the US, Shanghai and Zurich the role required a fair amount of stakeholder and client engagement, excellent influencing skills and the ability to sell a great concept!

The Solution

A few late evening calls with the head office in Colorado, the job requirement was finalised, salary, bonus, benefits and relocation package agreed. With a comprehensive candidate competency list, the business values and key stakeholders availability confirmed we began the interviewing and shortlisting. We agreed that there would have to be a 5 stage interview process with the final stage being a presentation to the GM on a ‘live’ brief.

The Outcome

After 5 interviews and an excellent final presentation (which they actually ran with)! The candidate relocated himself and family to Verbier, within 6 weeks of the Creative Director starting the creative team grew from 2 to 12 and although the Creative Director was an outdoor enthusiast he couldn’t ski!… Needless to say he spent the season learning and is now an avid black run and off piste skier!
